HEARTLAND DIVERSITY LEGAL JOB FAIR

20th Annual Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair
July 18-19, 2024

The 2024 Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair is scheduled to take place in-person at Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Headquarters.  In celebration of the 20th Annual Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair, we are substantially upgrading the experience and exposure to Kanas City.  This entails an optional Thursday bus tour featuring the sites, history, and culture of Kansas City, followed by the Kansas City Unity Celebration at KCMBA that evening, where all members of our bar including KC’s five Diversity Bar Associations will be present to welcome the candidates to our community.

The primary purpose of the Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair (HDLJF) is to increase the participation of under-represented groups in the practice of law in Kansas City. The founders and organizers of the HDLJF strongly believe that the inclusion of diversity in its many facets, including, without limitation, race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, marital status, age and veteran status, enriches us all.

In December 2021, KCMBA launched the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Action Plan/Collaborative – a forum for developing, curating, and sharing a range of practical, effective law firm DEI resources, practices, and strategies that fit the respective needs of differently situated firms, and for considering and recommending innovative practices and evolving DEI strategies over time.

The shared purpose of the DEI Collaborative is to help member firms achieve continued, meaningful, and measurable progress toward the firms’ shared objectives of diversity, representation, inclusion and belonging. HDLJF is at the heart of their ongoing commitment dating back to the Fall of 2005. KCMBA Collaborative is striving towards greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in the greater Kansas City legal community where all can thrive.
